District Choral Festival – The Junior High Division voted to change from the District & State Festival format to a Regional State Performance Assessment Format, similar to the High School Division. There will no longer be District Choral Festivals.  The Regions will be made up of the following districts:

Northern Region – Districts 1, 2, 3, and 4
Central Region – Districts 6 and 7
Southern Region – Districts 5 and 8

State Performance Assessment is a state-level non-competitive activity for those choirs and ensembles.  Directors and their students receive performance evaluations and insight from expert adjudicators from MS and surrounding states.  State Performance Assessment also provides an opportunity for Directors and their students to hear other quality JH/Middle School choirs.

Solo and Ensemble Festival is an annual event that will now be combined with the MS ACDA High School Solo and Ensemble Festival.  It provides an excellent opportunity for students to perform alone or in an ensemble in a non-competitive atmosphere.  Students and ensembles receive ratings and constructive comments from an expert adjudicator.

Honor Choirs are held in conjunction with our Annual Conference. Auditions in the fall, for girls and boys, in grades 7-9, are held for eligible students. Teachers must be members of NAfME for their students to participate in honor choir.
